Tyler and Tanner are identical twins and best buddies, but their relationship is about to be transformed forever. Tyler grows increasingly uncomfortable with the rumors that haunt him and his brother, but Tanner doesn't want their relationship to change. Wanted or not, change comes. Tyler falls for Charlie, the new boy in town, and Tanner reaches out to help his teammate, Iggy, who is crippled in an accident and confined to a wheelchair. As Tyler and Charlie grow closer, Tanner grabs onto the small ray of hope that Iggy may someday walk again and pushes Iggy to make it happen. Just when he feels he's losing his brother, Tanner begins to develop feelings for Iggy that he never thought he could feel for anyone...except his twin.

The Nudo Twins is the story of an unconventional relationship and the ability of love to adapt to almost any situation.

The Nudo Twins (Audible Audio Edition) Mark Roeder Matthew Mickenberg Mark A Roeder Books

"The Nudo Twins" tells the stories of twin brothers, Tyler and Tanner, through a series of diary-like entries (the chapters alternating between each brother), so we get a sense of their relationship as twins and as individuals. The twins struggle with coping with homosexuality in a time and place where it is not accepted. Only in their group of close friends do they feel like they are able to be themselves. When a new boy transfers to the school, he shakes up the twins' relationships and sets them on different (but similar) paths. I found the plot very interesting, and I applaud Roeder's courage for tackling a taboo subject that spells realistic consequences in the story. What dragged the story down to 3 stars was the writing. I believe the pro of Roeder's writing style is that it allows the reader to comfortably get into the mind of a high-school boy, especially the worries and desires of a gay teenager. However, I would argue the repetitiveness can get a little tiring at times. Just in terms of creativity, I would have liked the twins to have a little more differences in personality, no matter how subtle. And their preoccupations with sex (in relation to and in contrast to) and love, although realistic, seem to be echoed a little too often (and too closely together). Paragraphs that feature the same idea string on, so the reader is left feeling like they've just been reading the same thing for too long. I have begun reading another of Roeder's books, and have noticed the same problem, so I would venture to say this is characteristic of his style. For this book, I do think the plot is interesting enough that the reader can stay engaged beyond the repetition. All in all, I found the book an enjoyable read, and like Tyler and Tanner as protagonists.

The Nudo Twins (Audible Audio Edition) Mark Roeder Matthew Mickenberg Mark A Roeder Books Reviews

An accurate look at times and places past. Often it felt as though I were looking back at my past . A good handling of a taboo subject led by engaging characters told with humor and warm-hearted storytelling .
I'm addicted to all of Mark Roeder's books. His writing is fantastic, and once I pick up any of his books I can't stop reading them. I'm only getting 5 hours of sleep per night because of it. I've now spent hundreds of dollars just to get the next book in his stories... I can't get enough. I thought I wouldn't like this sequel so much... but I did!
I liked this book, it was a fun read ad i won't bore you with the same old descriptions everyone else has left here. I liked the twins since they first appeared in the first book. I will be sorry to leave them now. I guess we now jump 30 years forward in the next book...The soccer field is empty. I hope we hear about Kurt, Angel and the twins in some of the next stories after I have invested so much time on them. That will really bite if i don't know if Angel and Kurt made it or not and how the twins are.
I was familiar with the twins from previous books , but as they say, EVERONE has their own story.
The thing that makes a series or series of books interesting is that you get to know other characters better .
I love Mark Roeder's books because it is always a mix of new and familiar people.
Each book is unique but still tied to another ! A very enjoyable read !
I have been waiting for this book since... well, since reading Outfield Menace. It was worth the wait. I really enjoyed seeing the separate sides of Tyler and Tanner's personalities, how they dealt with situations and their relationship with each other. Twin relationships always seem to dynamic and mysterious. The only thing I truly disliked about this book was how their "secret" was handled. I guess I could chalk it down to the separate POVs for each chapter, but we saw in detail the "secret" in one chapter and then the next Tyler reveals the "secret" like it's some major revelation that the reader has no idea about. That could have been handled better but overall it was everything I expected.
I've followed and read most of Mark's books sometimes out of order. However each book comes to life as if your right there seeing and hearing each word.

This book goes a little bit deeper than some of his others, however just like his other's, it never fails to pull you in and often makes you wish you were there living with these characters. You become attached to the characters quickly, feeling and experiencing the same feelings they go through. Never disappointing.
I've read about 6 of Mark's books (so far, more no doubt) and all are fun and well written stories. I've pondered why I like this genre, specifically these excellent ones by Mark, and came to the thought that it's fun and exciting to be in alternative story of growing up as a gay young man.

The love and sex is just part of the story of our youth. And so it is reflective in Mark's books. What makes his books so appealing is the supporting story, characters, emotions and some danger. This makes it easy to drop in to each of his "movies in our mind".
